The human-gated SDLC.

AI does the synthesis. Humans hold the gates where judgment matters. Here's the pipeline I actually run.

Michael Wielpütz, co-founder and CTO of beebucket

I'm Michael Wielpütz. I run beebucket, where we ship AI-accelerated engineering for organizations that have to stand behind what they build. Everyone has adopted AI; almost no one has decided where the humans stay in the loop. That decision (not the tooling) is the whole game. This is where I think out loud about it.

Adoption is near-universal (~90% per DORA 2025) but only 3.1% of developers highly trust AI output. That's not a capability problem; it's trust and accountability. My answer is a human-gated SDLC (software development life cycle): a nine-phase pipeline with three deliberate human gates (PM Review, Issue Review, Code Review) and AI doing the synthesis in between.
